Coastal Eye Associates (CEA) is pleased to welcome comprehensive ophthalmologist Dr. Sanchay Gupta to its growing team of physicians. Dr. Gupta will begin seeing patients on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at CEA’s Webster, Gulf Freeway, Alvin and Pasadena locations.
A surgically trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Gupta specializes in advanced technology cataract surgery, including extended depth of focus and multifocal lens options, femtosecond laser-assisted surgery and astigmatism correction. He also provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care for patients with glaucoma, dry eye disease, pterygium, diabetic eye disease and eyelid concerns. Dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based care, Dr. Gupta combines the latest advances in ophthalmology with a compassionate, patient-focused approach to help patients achieve their best possible vision and long-term eye health.
Dr. Gupta earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Stanford University before receiving his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine Cullen Eye Institute, where he served as chair of the Department of Ophthalmology’s Surgical Education Committee. During his training at Texas Medical Center, one of the world’s largest medical centers, he performed thousands of clinical and surgical procedures while caring for patients with a wide range of complex eye conditions.
In addition to his extensive clinical training, Dr. Gupta has earned national recognition for his innovation, research and leadership. He received the Visionary in Eye Care Award from Ophthalmology Times, the MIT Sloan Healthcare Innovation Prize and first place in the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, holds patents for medical technologies and founded a medical device company focused on developing life-saving innovations.
