Coastal Eye Associates welcomes Dr. Eric Mendez to our team in Houston!

Coastal Eye Associates (CEA) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Eric Mendez, a therapeutic optometrist specializing in cataract and glaucoma care, to their team in Houston. Dr. Mendez brings a wealth of experience in providing in-office procedures and co-managing retinal pathology alongside ophthalmologists and optometrists, further enhancing CEA’s commitment to delivering high-quality eye care to the Houston community.
Dr. Mendez is known for his patient-centered approach, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment of eye conditions. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he effectively communicates with a diverse patient population, ensuring that each patient’s needs are met with clarity and compassion.

Dr. Mendez earned his associate’s degree in natural science from the College of the Mainland before completing a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Houston. He then obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. Prior to joining CEA, Dr. Mendez worked at Southwest Eye Institute, where he honed his skills in performing in-office procedures and co-managing complex cases.
Outside of his professional practice, Dr. Mendez enjoys photography, reading, boxing and traveling. He is looking forward to seeing patients at CEA’s locations and continuing his work in improving eye health across Houston.
